The First

So I have never had a blog before, but I used to write journals all the time. However, since last year I haven't kept up with that. Granted I won't write what I would have written in my journals, I still think that I have a good amount of things to say that could be worth while to others.

Any who, I will take this time and say a little something about myself. I was born and raised in Richfield, Minnesota and currently I go to school at Winona State University. I am graduating in May of 2010 with two degrees, one in Math Education (secondary) and Mathematics. I will also have a minor in Physics before I graduate. The plan after college is to teach High School math somewhere, probably in a suburb of the Twin Cities. Although who knows what will happen in a year...

My biggest love of my life right now is the Minnesota Twins. I don't know what exactly started my current tangent of knowing as much as I can and watching every game possible, but I know I should blame my Grandpa for getting me hooked. He pitched batting practice in the 1960's to some of the greatest Twins players to wear the uniform. Those include Killebrew, Allison, and my favorite, Oliva. Not going to lie about this, but I love to brag about the fact that my Grandfather knew these extraordinary people. I still remember when my brother and I would be over at his house and we'd play baseball in the backyard. Those are memories that I will never forget.

Lately, since I gave up facebook for lent, I have been wasting my time on the internet reading a lot of Twins articles and blogs. I find these to be pretty interesting and I am learning a lot through them. I have also been putting my two-cents in and have somehow been able to make it look like I know something about the game :)

Other fun facts about me. My mom works for Northwest Airlines (now Delta) and I have been able to do a good amount of traveling since she started working there (at least a lot more than if she didn't). My favorite trip with her would definitely be one of our shortest. We went to Fort Myers at the beginning of March for the day to watch a Twins Spring Training game. That was it. We had a blast! I got a lot of autographs (my favorites being from Denard Span, Carlos Gomez and Toby Gardenhire). You should of seen their faces when they saw what I had them sign. I have a stuffed bear from Bulid-a-Bear and I bought a small t-shirt for it so it could wear the autographs that I would get from Twins players. I got weird looks thinking that I would actually wear the shirt.

While at the game, we were sitting next to some fun people. We were right next to the Twins dugout in the second row (I could touch the dugout). In front of us there were two couples, one from La Crosse, WI and the other from La Crescent, MN. If you know any geography, you know those cities are right next to each other. (Oh... and they didn't know each other coming to Florida. They said they met in the parking lot. what a conscience). Then you had me from Winona. And then there were three girls next to us who went to school in Rochester. It was crazy being next to so many people that were not that far from where I live all down in Florida at the same time.

About the game, Twins played the Netherlands for an exhibition game. We ended up winning the game. I got to see Slowey pitch (one of my favorites) and got Cuddy to smile at me twice. One of my other favorite parts of the game was when the twins were coming back from warming up in the field. I yelled to Trevor Plouffe to come over and sign my shirt. Instead, he decided to throw me the ball he just had been warming up with. Trevor is now one of my favorite minor leaguers because of that. My other favorite minor leaguer is going to be Toby Gardenhire. Somewhere around I want to say the 6th inning, the girls next to us and my mom and I decided to start a "TOBY! TOBY! TOBY!" chant. I talked to Toby after the game in the dugout and he said he liked our cheering.

Enough about that game though. Other fun places I was able to go to was Ireland the summer after I graduated with my high school band. We had a blast and I actually turned 18 there. We weren't supposed to have alcohol on the trip because it was a high school trip but I still bought a bottle of wine for my bday. :)

To finish out this blog I will talk about my dancing background. I have danced since I was 4 and started competition dance when I was 6. My studio closed right before my Senior year but I still found a way to dance in college. Right now I am dancing at the Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts where I take classes in Tap, Jazz, Ballet and sometimes Pointe. I have also been in two Nutcrackers with MCA and will be in the 3rd Dance Repertory Company show this May. I love dancing and could not imagine my life without it!

Enough for now... I'll probably write another one while bored in History of Math class.
